Jeremy Dein Kings Counsel KC works with JD Spicer Zeb

  • Posted

Jeremy Dein KC is widely regarded as one of the most formidable defence barristers operating in the criminal justice system. His impressive career, which began when he was called to the Bar in 1982, has seen him establish a reputation for being both highly skilled and deeply dedicated to his clients. Taking silk in 2003 underscored Jeremy’s standing at the Criminal Bar. He was joint head of chambers at 25 Bedford Row for several years, a prestigious set of chambers that boasts an outstanding history of providing criminal defence representation at the highest level.  Jeremy recently stood down in order to focus upon his burgeoning practice. JD Spicer Zeb has a very strong relationship with 25 Bedford Row, enabling us to instruct counsel at every level.  There is a powerful bond of mutual respect, and trust, between our firm and Jeremy, and 25 Bedford Row itself.

At JD Spicer Zeb, we have placed our complete trust in Jeremy for many years, in order to handle some of the most sensitive and high-profile cases. His expertise has been invaluable to our firm, and we are privileged to work with someone of his calibre. One case that exemplifies Jeremy's skill and professionalism involved our client, Eric Joyce MP, who was charged with assault following a highly publicised altercation within the Palace of Westminster in 2012. The complexity of the case, combined with the intense media scrutiny surrounding the incident, required a barrister who could not only provide legal excellence but also demonstrate the utmost discretion and sensitivity. Jeremy’s handling of the case was exemplary, and his ability to navigate the complexities of such a high-profile matter further cemented our confidence in his capabilities.

As a firm that prides itself on providing the best legal representation possible, we understand the importance of selecting the right King’s Counsel for each case. At JD Spicer Zeb, we ensure that our clients have access to some of the most accomplished and respected barristers in the country. Jeremy Dein KC is a prime example of the calibre of talent we work with—his experience and expertise are unparalleled in the field of criminal law.

Jeremy's practice encompasses a wide range of criminal matters, including the most serious 'indictable only' offences. He frequently handles cases that involve complex legal issues and the highest stakes for his clients, with his work often extending to managing appeals. In 2018, for instance, Jeremy successfully overturned an extended sentence for one of our clients before The Court of Appeal. The sentence was reduced by fifty percent, a remarkable achievement that demonstrated Jeremy's expertise in appellate advocacy and his dedication to securing the best possible outcome for his clients. This victory was just one of many where his meticulous preparation, strategic thinking, and persuasive advocacy led to significant successes in the courtroom.

But it is not just Jeremy's legal expertise that makes him such a valuable partner for us; it is also the professional relationship we have built with him over the years. At JD Spicer Zeb, we work closely with Jeremy, and our partners regularly turn to him for guidance and representation in our most difficult and challenging cases. The relationship between JD Spicer Zeb and Jeremy is built on trust, and a shared commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients. We are proud to say that, during our long-standing association, Jeremy consistently delivers exceptional results, and his efforts have profoundly impacted the cases we handle together.

This strong working relationship means that, in addition to his representation in high-profile cases, we can offer Jeremy's services on a private basis if requested by our clients. We understand that, for some cases, the ability to engage a barrister of Jeremy's stature directly can make a significant difference in the legal strategy and overall outcome. This flexibility allows us to offer our clients the opportunity to work with a leading expert in criminal defence, while also ensuring that we maintain the high standards of service and discretion that JD Spicer Zeb is known for.

Jeremy's reputation for excellence is matched only by his approachability and professionalism. He is a pleasure to work with, not only because of his legal acumen but also because of his clear and open communication with clients and colleagues. Jeremy's clients often comment on his ability to put them at ease during even the most stressful of proceedings, reassuring them with his calm, methodical approach and unwavering commitment to their case. His ability to navigate complex legal waters with clarity and confidence is one of the many reasons why we continue to trust him with our most difficult cases.

At JD Spicer Zeb, we take great pride in offering our clients access to the very best legal representation. We know that the success of a case often depends on the strength of the counsel engaged, which is why we work closely with Jeremy Dein on a Legal Aid and Private Basis as well as other leading barristers to ensure our clients receive an unparalleled level of advocacy quality. If you are looking for expert legal representation in a criminal matter, we encourage you to contact us.

How can we help?

Common questions

We always work with the most experienced and best leading UK barristers, KCs (Kings Counsel). We cover all criminal cases 24/7 at the police station and court. Offices in London, Birmingham, and Manchester cover cases across England and Wales. We can offer Legal Aid and affordable Private fee agreements. We can see you the same day, including virtually. Our Senior Partners supervise all of our cases.

How quickly do you respond?

We respond quickly even during out of hours. We do not get our work by paying for online adverts but based on the fact that few criminal law firms can match our 45 years of experience. Most of our cases are still from word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied clients. We are called daily by dissatisfied clients from firms with less experience than us. We respond very quickly to new enquiries. We know what clients seek and so we update clients rapidly.

Can you get cases dropped?

Yes, read about the recent cases we've helped our clients with here.

We always keep you updated and give straightforward advice. We will get cases dropped early where the case is weak or should not be prosecuted. We will be upfront with you about where you can benefit from a good result with an early guilty plea, such as a discount on your sentence. As we work on cases across all levels with clients from all walks of life, we are excellent at giving clear, spot-on advice. As an established firm, we can allocate a whole team to your case often at short notice to secure evidence to minimise the damage to you.

Have you won any awards?

OUR PROFESSIONAL BODY THE LAW SOCIETY AWARDED US IN OCTOBER 2020 WITH THE EXCELLENCE IN CLIENT SERVICE AWARD AND STATED -

"JD Spicer Zeb demonstrated a clear commitment to client service through their work with vulnerable and diverse individuals in what can be severely traumatic circumstances".
