Police bail extension opposed - Heathrow Police station 2022
Our client faced serious allegations and was arrested coming off an international flight into the UK. He was questioned at the police station and denied the allegations. He was placed on onerous and restrictive bail conditions. In due course, the police required the court's permission to extend pre-charge bail. We made strong written arguments against pre-charge bail being extended by the court. The court accepted our arguments and bail was not extended and cancelled. Our client was able to return home and reunite with his family. Based on our advice and strategy the case was subsequently no further actioned.
Our team of lawyers is trained and has access to the best case law to ensure we fight all unjust and disproportionate bail conditions and extensions. There are statutory time limits on pre-charge bail where the police must ensure that the relevant law is fully complied with. We have over 45 years of experience in making successful bail applications. We continually act for clients who approach us who are subject to wholly disproportionate bail conditions pre-charge.
The law is now contained in - schedule 4, Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022
