Man Cleared Historic Sexual Abuse Allegations Harrow Crown Court 2024

Our client was charged with five counts of sexual assault against his younger cousin and had a trial in the Crown Court. The Prosecution alleged that our client sexually assaulted the Complainant on five separate occasions over the course of two years at the Complainant’s family home and at church.

The issues of this case were whether any nonconsensual touching occurred, and whether any touching such as there may have been in the ordinary course of communication between cousins, was sexual.

Our client denied that there was any physical contact between himself and the Complainant for the purposes of sexual gratification.

Our client’s case was that the allegations made were a complete fabrication, and that there has never been any animosity between himself and the complainant. Our client was completely shocked upon hearing of these allegations as he knew they were incorrect.

Our client instructed us to put forward his defence at trial, and cross examine the Complainant. We prepared the Defendant’s case accordingly and instructed Counsel to attend the trial.

The jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty on four of five counts, and the Prosecution offered no evidence on the remaining count. Our client was acquitted of all charges.

Our client was extremely grateful for our advice and representation. We are highly regarded as a leading defence solicitors’ firm for sexual offence cases, having achieved many successful outcomes for a diverse range of clients facing difficult charges.
