We can agree to undertake the above private, non-legal-aid work outlined in this email to you. We have set out our costs. This is a fixed fee, which is non-refundable in the event of less work being required.

This fee is non-refundable as we are charging lower hourly rates rather than our higher standard rates. We can offer an hourly rate fee if you require this.

Once you agree to proceed and we open your file, the fee will be non-refundable as we will have undertaken this administrative task. Even if the case does not proceed, these fees will be non-refundable as we are required to store your file for seven years after it is opened.

In agreeing to this work, you are waiving your rights to cancel this agreement within 14 days as the work and advice required is of an urgent nature.

This is an honest estimate for the work required given in good faith. However, we emphasise that we do not know exactly how long we will have to meet with you and what preparation is required. We will do as much of the agreed work that we can in the time that you have agreed with us. All emails, letters, calls and messages in or out are chargeable as 6 minutes time, unless of a greater duration. If we are unable to do the work required in the time agreed, we can agree on additional fees.

Unless stated otherwise, these fees do not cover police station attendance, court attendance, or preparation for trials or appeals.

Please note that if you cancel a scheduled meeting with less than 24 hours’ notice, we reserve the right to charge for this as an effective meeting as we have set time aside to see you.

We kindly remind you that in criminal law cases, we cannot offer you advice on related civil law, regulatory matters concerning your profession, family law, employment law, DBS checks, immigration law or any other legal matters. However, we can direct you to a suitable lawyer if required.
