An arrest warrant had been issued by the United States District Attorney in Atlanta, Georgia for the requested person to be extradited to serve the remainder of his sentence which was imposed for serious fraud offences.
The requested person had fled the United States after he was sentenced and had failed to attend the designated correction facility on the date he was due to surrender. He had flown to India while his family remained in the United States. He was arrested at Heathrow airport having flown to the United Kingdom to meet his family who had flown from the US to meet him.
The matter proceeded to the Administrative Court but Mr M abandoned his appeal and returned to the United States voluntarily.
