No Further Action Taken Allegations Of Theft Colindale Police Station July 2024
No further action was taken on the allegation of theft at Colindale Police Station in July 2024.
The allegation against our client was that he took numerous items from a friend’s property, where he was staying as a guest.
In order to be found guilty of theft, as defined by section 1 of the Theft Act 1968, it must be proven that you dishonestly appropriated property belonging to another with the intention to permanently deprive the other of it.
If you can show that you had a genuine belief that you had the legal right to appropriate the property, or the owner would have consented then you would be able to raise a defence to theft.
During our client's visit to Colindale Station, we advised on the available evidence and our client’s account. We recommended that our client answer 'no comment' to all police questions, as there was no direct evidence linking our client to the theft. Due to this lack of evidence and our client's decision not to provide an account, the police took ‘no further action’ on the allegations, preventing the matter from going to court.
