Knife case dropped representations to CPS - Thames Court 2021
We acted for a man charged with possession of a bladed article in a violent incident. Our client had never been in trouble with the Police before. He worked in the finance industry and was studying for finance exams at the time the incident took place. He denied the facts. We wrote to the CPS and set out clearly that the proceedings should be dropped, on the basis that he had a reasonable excuse for having the bladed article and that it was not in the public interest to pursue this prosecution because of our client’s personal circumstances. As a result of our representations, the CPS dropped the charges before our client even stepped foot into the Crown Court. We can offer an enhanced service to make written representations to the CPS and or Police to ask that cases are dropped where it is not in the public interest to proceed or there is an unrealistic prospect of conviction.
