CPS Leading role drug dealing argument dismissed crown court - 2021
Our client was arrested for dealing class A. The police found a ¼ kilo of heroin in a motor car linked to him a and voluminous evidence that he was running a significant County lines drug operation in Surrey. He was on licence at the time for a previous conviction for drug dealing. he was also charged with making threats to kill a customer of the drugs line and his mother. The prosecutor dropped the threats to kill and despite the Prosecutor arguing that the client had a serious leading role. We fought and persuaded the court that his role was significant only and he received a significantly lower sentence. Had the CPS basis been accepted the sentence would have been at a starting point of around 4 years higher imprisonment. Thorough preparation by senior lawyer Barry Linnane ensured a good outcome for our client.
