Attempted Murder dropped 2020
James O’Donnell represented a defendant for attempted murder of a number of police officers. Following detailed advice a full account was advanced during his police station interview allowing the charges to be mitigated down to dangerous driving. No further action was taken on the charges of attempted murder. The crucial advice at the police station allowed the defendant to give his account at the earliest stage which resulted in powerful mitigation at Court. A 12 months community order with 100 hours was imposed at the magistrates court. Normally cases of this nature are sent to the Crown Court for sentencing where a term of imprisonment would have been imposed. Our advocates extensive knowledge of the sentencing guidelines persuaded the magistrates to deal with the case.
